Our Commitment
Off The Street Australia wants this site to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, or who need larger text or higher contrast.
What We've Done
- Semantic HTML structure (proper headings, landmarks, form labels) so screen readers can navigate the page sensibly.
- All interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields) are reachable and operable by keyboard alone, not just by mouse or touch.
- A responsive layout that works down to small phone screens without horizontal scrolling or loss of function.
- Text and background colours chosen for reasonable contrast against our dark theme.
- Form errors are shown as readable text messages, not colour alone.
Known Limitations
- Uploaded images (car photos, event banners, avatars) don't currently have custom alternative text beyond a generic label — we're working on this.
- The gate check-in camera scanner relies on a visual QR code; manual code entry is always available as an alternative on the same page.
- We haven't yet run a full WCAG 2.1 AA audit or tested with real assistive-technology users.
